Classifications and Time Frame
PHASE 1 – 0-375 HOURS
• The emphasis in this classification is to introduce the fundamentals of shampooing, rinsing, conditioning, hair coloring, hair cutting, chemical texture services, manicuring and pedicuring, facials, skin care, face color, hair removal, shaving, laws, rules and regulations, management, ethics, interpersonal skills, and salesmanship, disinfection, sanitation, and safe work practices. Future professionals learn state and safety requirements, experience basic theoretical knowledge and practical application through lectures, demonstrations, and workshops. Upon completion of the phase the future professional will have the primary skills needed to fully service a guest.

PHASE 2 – 376-750 HOURS
• This phase is a comprehensive curriculum. Clinic and classroom activities will concentrate on shaving, hair cutting, hair styling and color cosmetic trends/techniques with moderate emphasis on permanent waving and hair coloring.

PHASE 3 & 4 – 750-1500 HOURS
• Future professionals are directed to finely tune their coordination, speed, accuracy, and concentration to meet entry-level salon requirements. Future professionals demonstrate competency in all task required for the Skill Certification Examination, as well as the theoretical knowledge necessary to pass the written examination required by GWBS and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. This will be achieved by simulating a salon daily service time schedule. Future professionals receive instructions on job requirements, interviewing techniques, resume writing, and employee benefits and wages. There is in-depth training in guest servicing, time management, self- promotion, communication, goal setting, merchandising and successful salon entrepreneurship and management. Express your creativity and talent in hair, skin, nail care and face color application. Our beauty culture courses incorporate 1,500 hours of extensive hands-on learning to provide you a complete understanding of beauty and wellness. Upon completion, you’ll be ready to succeed as a licensed Barber/Stylist.
