MEET DAVID

New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community

David Holmen – Candidate for La Marque City Council
David is a proud resident of La Marque who wants to give back to a community that has given him a home he has grown to love. David is of mixed heritage, his dad was a Vietnam Veteran, his mother’s family having been migrant farm workers picking beets in North and South Dakota. His parents met and David grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota in a single-parent, low-income home and he fondly remembers being partially raised by nuns of St. Agnes Catholic Church, where he attended the church school from K-12 th grade. Life in St. Paul was a challenge and David was exposed to a great deal of urban unrest in his youth. He met the love of his life, Gena, as a young teenager and the couple has been together ever since. In Minnesota he began his work in automobile sales at Shakopee Chevrolet in St. Paul from 1994 to 2002. Their difficult life forced the young couple to leave the St. Paul/Minneapolis area, without resources or support, to start a new life in Galveston County Texas. They came to Galveston, Texas with their three young children, homeless, and found support from The Children’s Center, where they were sheltered until David was able to secure work and he and Gena acquired a home in Galveston. David began automobile sales at Bob Pagan Ford in 2002 and since then has been Public Relations and Sales Manager at Classic Auto Group in Galveston from 2012-2020 and now at Ron Carter in League City. Gena is a commercial insurance agent at Higginbotham Insurance Agency in Friendswood. Their three young children are now successful adults. Alexander is a Chief Petty Officer in a Navy Submarine Group in Virginia. Angelena finished school at College of the Mainland and has a successful career in internet automobile sales. Ario finished college with an engineering degree from Texas A&M, College Station. He now works in area industry.

David has benefitted from the community and he believes in giving back. He has lived in the La Marque District A community since 2014. He has served on the Coastal Community Federal Credit Union board of directors since 2014. David currently serves as Chairman of the board of directors of The Children’s Center, Inc., the same organization that once sheltered his family. He served on the Keep La Marque
Beautiful Commission from 2018-2019. He is currently a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 787 since 2010 and most recently was appointed to the Texas City ISD, Foundation for the Future, board of directors. David wants to further serve the La Marque community. He believes in hand on participation in the community. He has conducted significant fundraising in the past few years to support local charities. David relates to persons of all walks of life, having been a vulnerable youth, a homeless family member and now a successful businessman. He is running for the La Marque City Council District A. Please help bring his proven expertise, experience and caring to our community.
